Just two years after its inauguration, the annual London Motor Show has already proved to be such a huge success that its organisers have been forced to find a larger venue for 2018.

The event will move from its Battersea Park home next year to take up residence at the ExCel London exhibition centre not far from Canary Wharf.

More than 25,000 visitors attended the 2017 London Motor Show last month, where over 130 brand new cars were exhibited, an overwhelming turnout which has prompted the move to ExCel London, a venue which is more than twice as large as Battersea Park. Event organisers say the move will allow for more activities and entertainment, as well as increased space for exhibitors.

London Motor Show chairman Alec Mumford explained: “The 2017 event saw record-breaking numbers attend the show, and our move to a bigger venue shows that the UK’s appetite for a hard-hitting automotive festival is strong – which is fantastic news for our industry. Having carefully considered feedback from our guests, we knew ExCeL London was the perfect venue to take us to the next level and we’re really looking forward to the first show in our new home in May 2018. This year’s event was the biggest and best yet, but with more space, exhibitors, cars and guests, we’re going to go one better next spring.”

The London Motor Show will take place at ExCel London From 17-20 May 2018.
