A landmark one million of the latest generation Ford Fiestas have been sold in Europe, just 28 months after the stylish small family car went on sale.
Nearly a quarter of these models have been bought by UK drivers, with sales of 239,742 since its launch.
The model has been the best-selling small car in Europe for the past two years, and is Ford’s first global car, with worldwide sales totalling 1,140,000.
Moreover, it is the most successful European-made small car ever sold in Europe, with cumulative sales topping 14 million since 1976 when the first Fiesta was launched.
The most popular Fiesta colour for UK drivers is Panther black, and sales are split 70/30 between five- and three-door models.
