Cadillac has revealed the new ATS Coupe, its first ever compact luxury coupe, at the Detroit Motor Show, ahead of its stateside launch later this year.
Based on the existing ATS saloon, the coupe is designed to be "lighter, more agile and more engaging" than its competitors, rivalling the likes of the BMW 4-Series and the new Mercedes C-Class Coupe.
Two engines will be on offer -- a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit and a 3.6-litre six-pot engine. The smaller engine has been tweaked to deliver 14 per cent more torque than it does in the ATS saloon, developing 272bhp and 295lb-ft of torque.
Cadillac claims that the ATS Coupe delivers the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, and as a result will hit 60mph in 5.6 seconds. The 3.6-litre V6 engine, meanwhile, develops 321bhp and 275lb-ft of torque.
The power is sent to the 18-inch wheels through a choice of either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearboxes, and both rear- and all-wheel drive variants will be available.
On the outside, the ATS Coupe looks broadly similar to the saloon; however, Cadillac has fitted new bumpers, new doors and a new roof, giving the car a more aggressive appearance.
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that Cadillac will offer a right-hand drive version of the ATS Coupe; however, more information will be released closer to the car's US on-sale date.
