Aston Martin have confirmed that their spectacular new track-only supercar, the Vulcan, will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next week.

Named after the Roman god of fire, the Aston Martin Vulcan is powered by a 7.0-litre V12 petrol engine producing over 800bhp in a lightweight all-carbon fibre shell, and is to be limited to 24 examples worldwide.

The supercar was designed by an in-house Aston Martin styling team led by Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman, and as such is expected to provide a hint as to the styling philosophy of future Aston Martin products. The front mid-engined, rear-wheel drive Vulcan has been developed using knowledge gained from the Aston Martin Racing division, and this sees its power-to-weight ratio exceed even that found in the GTE cars which compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The carbon fibre monocoque and body is built by specialist engineering outfit Multimatic, and contains an integral limited-slip differential, magnesium torque tube with carbon fibre propshaft, Brembo racing callipers, and carbon ceramic racing disc brakes.  Drive is channelled to the 345/30x19 rear wheels shod with Michelin racing tyres through the rear mid-mounted Xtrac six-speed sequential shift race-developed transmission. The Vulcan boasts a pushrod suspension with anti-dive geometry and Multimatic adjustable dampers, front and rear anti-roll bars, adjustable anti-lock brakes, and variable traction control.

Aston Martin claim the colour and trim options for the Vulcan are ‘almost infinitely flexible’, with the supercar available exclusively through Aston Martin’s VIP sales programme.  Further details on performance and pricing will become available closer to the Vulcan’s track debut later this year.

The Aston Martin Vulcan meets all the safety requirements for FIA track racing, and before taking delivery of their new car customers will be offered a programme of intensive track driver training.  Tutored by expert drivers including Le Mans class winner Darren Turner, the training events will develop driving skill and technique using a range of Aston Martin road and race cars to acclimatise Vulcan owners to the performance potential of their car.

Dr Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin said: “Aston Martin Vulcan is, by its very nature, a rare and thrilling supercar. Designed and engineered to deliver a genuinely bespoke driving experience that draws on our rich heritage, this car tailors its power and handling to both the capabilities of the driver and the characteristics of the track.

We have already received strong interest from the customers we have spoken to about Aston Martin Vulcan.

The cars will blend our traditional Aston Martin values of Power, Beauty and Soul with an unrivalled ownership experience; a unique combination that will guarantee their place in the brand’s rich and charismatic history.”
