Peugeot 5008 Overview

The current 5008 offers an engine range from 1.6 to 2.0 litres, with the 1.6 HDi engine being the most economical. Between all of the models the fuel economy varies from 39 to 57 miles per gallon.

It is a perfectly practical car, and it looks pretty stylish too, especially for an MPV. Peugeot claim that ‘the 5008 is the answer to any growing family’s needs. You’ll love driving it – and your family will love it’ and it is hard to disagree with this statement.

Background

The Peugeot 5008 was first introduced in 2009 and was Peugeots first entry into the small MPV market. It comes with the same engine range as the Peugeot 308 and shares many features, including the mechanical componentry, with the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso.

It was voted the ‘Best MPV of the Year’ in the What Car? Car of the Year Awards in 2010’ and was said to be the ‘most desirable MPV around’.  It has a 5* NCAP safety rating due to a number of safety features such as the Peugeot Connect SOS & Assistance, a distance alert system, an electronic stability programme and a electronic handbrake and hill assist.

All engines comply with the Euro 5 emissions standards and a E-Hdi stop and start system is also included to help keep the 5008 economically friendly.

Summary

The Peugeot 5008 is a very suitable and substantial MPV available with 5 or 7 seats. Whilst it is Peugeots first entry to the small MPV market you would have thought they have been doing it for years as it has turned out so well. It is a safe car which does everything you would want an MPV to do, and does it well.
