Background
The Nissan Micra was introduced in its first generation in 1982. It was available as a 3-door or 5-door hatchback and as a 3-door panel van. Nissan released the Micra Superturbo in 1988, with production limited to 10,000 units, which could accelerate from 0 – 62mph in 7.7 seconds.
The second generation of the car was produced between 1992 and 2003. The Micra was now available as a 4-door saloon and as a 5-door estate as well as the hatchback models. The panel van was dropped from the line-up. The car received a facelift in 1998, and hereafter the whole range was fitted with power steering as standard.
The Micra was available as a 2-door convertible in its third generation (and also as a 3-door or 5-door hatchback). A wider range of engines were available and the model sported a new, more aesthetically pleasing exterior.
The fourth generation of the Micra has been in production since 2010. This model comes as a 5-door hatchback with a 5-speed transmission. It boasts improved safety and improved fuel economy.
The fourth generation model was facelifted in 2013 with a new more aggressive front end and a range of additional standard equipment.
