In 2006 a high-performance version of the Mazda6 was released, marketed as the 6 MPS. It had a 0-60mph time of 5.4 seconds.
The second generation of the Mazda6 debuted in 2008. There is a wider range of engines available and the car is faster in terms of acceleration and top speed.
A third generation of the Mazda6 is planned for a 2013 release.
