The Ford Ka is a city car that has been in production since 1996 and is currently in its second generation. The Ka is a stylish 3-door hatchback with space for four passengers. The interior is spacious and finished neatly with good quality plastics. Head and legroom in the front is plentiful, and adequate for all but the tallest passengers in the back. Ford KA Overview

The Ka is very customisable with many accessories and cost extras available. All Kas, except for the entry level trim model, come with electric windows, air conditioning and central locking.

The car is fun to drive, due to the accurate steering and well-adjusted suspension. It delivers a smooth ride which is refined around town, although it can be a little noisy at higher speeds.

The Ford Ka can be purchased with a petrol or diesel engine, both representing good value for money. The petrol engine is cheaper, while the diesel provides better fuel consumption rates. The Ka is a little small to be a family vehicle but makes an excellent car for new drivers.

Background

The Ford Ka was produced in its first generation from 1996.

The model was a 3-door hatchback with a 5-speed manual transmission, available with a 1.3 litre or 1.6 litre engine.

The brand was diversified in 2003, with the introduction of the StreetKa and SportKa. The SportKa featured a sportier exterior with alloy wheels while the StreetKa was a convertible. All models received an updated interior in 2005.

A Ford Ka rally championship was created in 1998.

The model entered its second generation in 2008. It is in the same form as its predecessor – a 3-door hatchback – and is available with a 1.2 litre petrol engine or a 1.3 litre diesel engine. The interior is more modern with many optional extras such as Bluetooth, a USB port and steering wheel audio controls.

Summary

The Ford Ka is a stylish car that is practical yet fun to drive. The interior is surprisingly spacious and it makes an excellent vehicle for new drivers.
