Fiat Panda Overview

The car is a 5-door hatchback with room for four people. It is spacious inside and reasonably comfortable, with good accessibility to the cabin. The trim is neat and the current model is up to date with all the latest safety features, including 4 air bags and anti-whiplash front head restraints.

It is now compatible with the Blue&Me technology which offers live updates of accurate traffic information. The controls inside the car are well laid out and easy to use.

The Fiat Panda is a fun car to drive around town in. It is not very fast, with a top speed of just over 100mph, but handles well due to good road grip and responsive steering. It also has 4x4 capabilities which help the car deliver an accomplished ride over a range of tricky terrains.

Background

The Fiat Panda was introduced in its first generation in 1980. The model was a 3-door hatchback designed as a budget car that would be cheap to buy and maintain. It was given a facelift in 1986, receiving many interior improvements, and again in 1991 with an upgraded engine selection.

23 years after its inception, the Panda entered its second generation in 2003. The new model was a 5-door hatchback and sported a completely redesigned exterior. A range of petrol and diesel engines were available, as were 5-speed or 6-speed transmissions.

There was an update to the car in 2005, and again in 2007 when a CD player became standard. 2009 again brought minor changes to the Panda. Several special editions of the car were released over the course of the second generation.

The Fiat Panda has been in its third and current generation since 2011. It is equipped with more economical engines and improved safety features.

Summary

The Fiat Panda is a reliable city car that represents excellent value for money. It handles well and would be a great car for new drivers.
