Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Car Reviews

The Grand C4 Picasso is a large MPV is based on the C4. Citroen already make an MPV based on the C4, the C4 Picasso, but this is slightly extended and contains seven seats rather than five. It is available with two a choice of two 1.6 litre petrol engines or three diesels (a 1.6 litre and two 2.0 litre units). The 1.6 litre diesel seems perfectly suited to the car combining good performance with the best economy of the bunch. Given the cars large size, there is understandably some body sway in corners but it generally grips well, and the soft suspension means it is a comfortable way to travel.

Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Overview

The Grand C4 Picasso can seat up to seven, but as is often the case with MPV’s, the rearmost seats are only really suitable for smaller passengers. Space in the middle row is plentiful however, and being able to recline and slide each seat back and forth individually is a clever touch. The boot is of generous proportions even when all the seats are up and seats each seat can be folded flat individually, the interior space can be customised to your needs well. The folding mechanism is simple and quick, with extra panels to give a flat load bay for when more room is required, and the abundance of cubbies in the cabin makes this a really practical family car.

The panoramic windscreen which is fitted standard on all models fills the car with light, and the skinny windscreen pillars, coupled with the high seating position, gives excellent all-round visibility. The fixed hub steering wheel is the where the majority of the cars functions are controlled from, and the instrument panel is located centrally on the dash. This can take some getting used since the abundance of buttons can seem a little confusing at first. Overall quality is good though, with soft touch plastics throughout.

Background

The Grand C4 Picasso, along with the C4 Picasso is the successor to the Citroen Xsara Picasso, although the two were sold simultaneously for a number of years until 2010. The Grand C4 Picasso was first revealed at the 2006 Paris Motor Show, and shares a platform with both the C4 and the Peugeot 307.

Summary

The Grand C4 Picasso offers the versatility of seven seats and a great deal of practicality given its carrying capacity and storage solutions, which make it the ideal MPV for a large family.
