Chevrolet Orlando Car Reviews

The Chevrolet Orlando is a small MPV. It is one of the more affordable 7-seaters on the market and offers a good deal of comfort for the money. It is available with either a 1.8 litre petrol engine or a choice of two 2.0 litre turbodiesels. The petrol engine is quite sluggish but both of the diesels are flexible, and offer decent economy. The ride is also decent, firm enough to give respectable handling but supple enough to cope easily on bumpy roads about town.

Chevrolet Orlando Overview

The styling of the Orlando makes it look larger than it actually is, however inside there is still a generous amount of room. The first and second rows of seats both offer enough space for larger passengers, in terms of head and legroom, but the third row is more suited to children and smaller adults, as is common in 7-seaters. Boot space isn’t the largest when all the seats are upright, but once the rear seats are folded, the boot is ample, with the option of folding the second row to fit larger luggage.

Adjustable seats and steering wheel make getting comfortable easy. The dashboard is well laid out and easy to use, but the stereo can take a little getting used to. Some of the materials aren’t of the highest quality, but are reasonable given the value this car offers.

Background

The Orlando is Chevrolet’s first attempt at the MPV market. It was initially unveiled as a concept car at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, with production being confirmed the following year. It is built on the GM Theta II Platform, which it shares with the Chevrolet Cruze and Vauxhall Zafira, among others.

Summary

The Orlando is an affordable MPV which offers space, practicality and comfort. It is also one of the safest MPVs, receiving the Euro NCAP 5 star rating.
