Chevrolet Aveo Car Reviews

The Aveo is a small family car, available as either a 3 or 5-door hatchback. There is a relatively good selection of engines available, a 1.2 or 1.4 litre petrol or a choice of two 1.3 litre diesels. Despite lacking serious grunt, all choices are relatively comfortable with motorway driving, although around busy city streets is where they are most at home. They also offer excellent efficiency, making the Aveo not only cheap to buy but also to run.

Chevrolet Aveo Overview

Inside, head and legroom is decent for both front and rear passengers, with enough space for 3 in the back, although it can be a bit of a squeeze. Front seats are supportive and comfortable on long journeys, with steering wheel adjustment making it easy to find the optimal driving position.  The boot is a decent size, on par with the competition at 290 litres, and an under floor storage area gives a little extra capacity.

The equipment offered as standard is decent across all trim levels, with the majority of mod-cons you’d expect from a car in this class available. You can however, upgrade to the LTZ version for a few extras.

Background

The Aveo was originally produced under the Daewoo brand as the Kalos. The small family car first appeared in 2002 as a replacement to the Daewoo Lanos, and was the first model released following the company’s takeover by GM. Its development took 3 years and a number of concept models that appeared at various motor shows.

It received a facelift in 2007, with the newly styled hatchback being presented as the Chevrolet Aveo at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the same year. It is now in its second generation, which first became available in 2011.

Summary

The Aveo is a reasonably priced small family car which offers very good value for money. It is cheap to buy and run, and the sporty appearance makes it very appealing to younger buyers who may see this as a decent first car.
