The Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line is a good looking car that drives well and has a genuine feel of quality about it. However, this comes at a price and the A3 Cabriolet is quite pricey and other models in the range offer lower running costs.

PROS:  Great looks. Decent performance credentials. Desirable badge

CONS:  Firm ride. Pricey.

Behind the Wheel

The Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line is a great sporty little car with front wheel drive.
Producing 184 lb-ft of torque with 158 bhp at 5000-6200rpm, this Audi might not be the quickest in the A3 range but it certainly has some power when you put your foot down and this makes it an attractive proposition for buyers.

The 6-speed manual gearbox is a peach and the car goes from 0-62 mph in just 8.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 135mph. The A3 handles well, however, the ride is a little firm - a common problem in Audis.

Looks & Equipment

With a sporty and sophisticated look the Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S is an attractive car which also boasts a number of standard features. Power steering, central looking, stability control and alloy wheels are all fitted as standard on this model as well as climate control, electric door mirrors and electric front windows.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line also has four plush cloth/leather seats fitted as standard, along with MP3 connectivity and a built-in CD player. Unfortunately, you will have to pay extra if require Bluetooth connectivity and a sat nav but otherwise the range of kit offered is fairly extensive.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The practicality of the Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line depends on the intended use with the lack of comfort within the cabin making it unsuitable for family use. However, for those without children, the A3 is a relatively practical proposition. On top of this the boot offers a capacity of 260 litres which is ideal for an overnight bag.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S Line should be a very safe proposition. Not only is there a driver's airbag fitted as standard but the car also comes with passenger and front side airbags as well plus the additional safety features of a fitted alarm and immobiliser. This ensures the car's occupants are protected from harm whilst also giving owners confidence that their car is protected from theft.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line has a great 3 year/60,000 mile warranty.

Value for Money

The Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line costs £27,565 which is fairly pricey although relatively good value considering the amount of kit you get.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line falls into insurance group 28 and CO2 emissions of 156 g/km put it in road tax band G. Fuel economy is below par with the car achieving just 42.2 mpg on the combined cycle as compared to the 50.4 mpg efficiency offered by the 2.0 TFSI S Line model.

Overall the Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI S line appears to be an expensive car to buy and maintain and that means buyers need deep pockets to afford this model. However, the performance credentials are strong and, for a car of this class, buyers could do a lot worse for their money.
